You need correct tongue weight for easy towing. If you will be loading different pieces of equipment, toys that have a different center of gravity. It will tow better if you can move the axle fore and aft.

A lot of universal boat trailers are adjustable so you can adjust the axle location to match your boat. I mount the spring brackets to a long 3 X 3 x 1/4 angle iron that is attached to the main trailer frame with u bolts. The fenders attach to the sliders.
